Transitional dressing is defined as clothing that seamlessly ‘transitions’ you from one season to another. The concept is based around ‘buy less, buy better’ in the hopes of looking after our planet and our wallets!
We are encouraging our customers to invest in outerwear that will be there go to, all year round. There are multiple ways you can consciously buy for every season and eventuality; in this post I am going to touch on a few.
1. DOWN TO THE DETAIL

When looking for an item that is not only going to last you through seasons but also look great doing so, longevity is key. Because of this, our products undergo intense quality checks and are finished with classic details that are designed to never go out of fashion, aiding your parka to withstand the test of time.
2. LOOK TO LAYER
As temperatures fluctuate between seasons, i'm sure many of us are guilty of buying new clothing in the fear of not being warm or cool enough. Our lightweight parkas are not bound to any season, holding a boxy shape to drape off the body like the original parka, they are made to be adjusted and layered as desired.
I think in the mid-seasons we all recognise being able to see our breaths in the morning but by lunch time, after a couple of errands have been ran we end up hot and flustered. The Navigator and Watson parka's are our unisex pieces, designed to be oversized. Their roomy fits accommodate early morning layering and lunch time undressing. Both styles have a hidden drawstring slipped in the waist that can be ruched to hug your figure or left loose to fit those vital winter layers under.
Saying this, layering doesn’t have to just mean vests, t-shirts and jumpers it can also include accessories. A hat is an easy way to elevate your outfit while keeping you warm. Thankfully, the roomy pockets in our parkas are perfect for the storage of that same hat when the sun begins to shine again.

How to style? P.S. we won’t be offended if you don’t take our advice, we know it is all down to personal preference!
For smaller frames we recommend sizing down. The inside sleeves on our lightweight parkas are made from the same fabric as the outside meaning you can still rock a contemporary look if you want to turn them up!
3. 2 FOR THE PRICE OF 1
Who doesn’t love a deal? Getting more for your money is the general idea behind transitional dressing, right?! We understand this and have created jackets which will see you through all the seasons.
The Caversham parka is available in 5 stunningly staple colours. And, although it may be May you don’t have to pack away your parka, instead simply pack away the luxurious faux fur trim and cosy lining. This feature allows for you to have both a warm winter coat AND practical lightweight jacket sensible for spring showers.
Our P53 jacket is a member of our black label range, combining traditional styles like the cut fishtail hem with modernity. The tweed-lined hood with luxurious faux fur detailing is completely detachable while the quilted lining can be removed when desired. This will be making a return this Autumn, ready for the years ahead.
Transitional dressing is not a new concept, but as we become aware of overconsumption and its effects on our planet, more and more of us are adopting it. Here at parka, things are designed to last. There are many options that allow you to buy for now and for later.
